SOOOOOO The Newsletter Offer has a name & I'm super excited to share it with you!!!

Promise not to steal it, right? πŸ˜‰

DEAD RECKONING

In the 1600s, navigators aboard ships came up with the term β€œdead-reckoning” to describe the technique of estimating course and distance in situations where there were no visible landmarks or stars available for guidance.

BUT IN THIS CASE, the definition is:

the art of knowing where you're going before you can see it. it's calculated from what you already have: a starting point, a direction, and the willingness to move.

Which is essentially the same thing, but more specific to HOW this offer is designed to help e-comm founders, service pros, AND local businesses in different containers.

For E-comm founders, it's a tool to help them build their personal brand by turning the podcasts, interviews, and other verbal marketing into weekly Substack and/or newsletter posts to build authority and thought leadership -- without them having to do extra work.

For service pros, it's a starting point to get everything they need compiled into an easy-to-act-on format so they can DIY their newsletters and use it as a brand-building creative outlet that lets them have a direct line of communication to their audience.

For local businesses, it's the vessel for them to keep their local community up-to-date (outside of social) and encourage foot traffic into their stores, markets, or wherever they might be! It's also great for vendors who don't have an e-comm brand (yet!).

I'm OBSESSED with the name, and the deliverables meet each audience type right where they're at.

Plus, in all transparency, it allows me to serve people at all different stages, which keeps me from doing the same thing every day. Variety is the spice of life, after all!! <3

Alright, so last week, you had 3 questions to start figuring out what YOUR newsletter should be about. ICYMI:

1. What's something you WANT to write about on a weekly basis?

2. What's something your dreamy "HOLY F*CK I CANNOT BELIEVE I SIGNED THEM" orrrrr "HOLY F*CK SO-AND-SO JUST PLACED AN ORDER" needs to be educated on before they can feel comfy spending money on you?

3. Are you more of a writer or a visual person? What inspires you?

So now, what do you DO with your answers??

In my opinion, and what I see work best for my clients, is to find a mix of starting conversations (typically through storytelling), micro-education on a topic you can help with (value), and a main purpose (CTA).

Take Email Paradise as an example:

I WANT to write more about psychology and creative writing practices because I believe a combo of these is what's gonna help YOU, dear reader, learn to trust your own writing (no matter what skill level you have!) instead of leaning heavily on GenAI.

Before someone can feel comfy spending money on my support, they need to understand my unique perspective & approach to email marketing.

And I'm more of a writer, don't enjoy sourcing gifs, and think visuals are the perfect pairing to break up sections, hence the design.

So for me, the storytelling is weaved in throughout the email, the value is this newsletter education section, and the CTA is opening the door for more convos (+ ofc, share pieces of the new offer!)

PAUSE

Is this example helping? If you need other examples, reply to this email and lmk. Or, better yet, share your answers with me & I'll give ya some direction on how to turn it into the structure of a newsletter for you (:

Cuz I'm trying to keep the education bite-size, so I don't want to overload you with too much info at once!!!

Next week, we'll be walking through what to do AFTER you get your structure nailed down.

Branching off the brain-dumping convo started last week, I truly believe some of our BEST ideas, come from just writing ish down, even when we don't have an answer, or think it might not make sense.

Which is why I'm a big fan of stream-of-consciousness writing & poetry. Essentially, letting your mind "riff" and bounce off ideas.

Your low-lift Creative Writing Challenge for the week:

Open g-docs page or anything that can later be easily 'searched'. Set a 10-minute timer, and write whatever comes to mind -- even if it's completely off the main topic -- using one of these prompts:

  1. What's 1 thing someone doesn't know about you from what you share publically? [I've never shared my abstract paintings that I sometimes do to de-stress!]
  2. How does this coming up July 4th holiday / America's 250th anniversay make you feel? [I've sooo many complicated thoughts on this one]
  3. Why do you think analog activities are a huge trend right now? [Ex: "Analog Summer" "5 Things to do without a device" etc etc.]

Same drill as last week! I'll send a shorter email later this week to explain the psychology behind doing this and how it helps you become a better writer, so keep an eye out for that!!! πŸ˜‹

πŸ“š Currently reading... Ink Bleed: A Divine Villains Novel Holy ffffff this smaller author popped up on my feed the day her book came out last week & I read SO MUCH of it this past week! Been a hot min since I've devoured a paperback book.

🎢 Currently listening to... Sanctuary by Evanescence (yes, still), but then I'll let it run through the album, and then Spotify takes it from there & has been giving me good reccs of other alt rock female-led bands!

πŸ’‘ Currently recommending... that you get some perfumes from Wonderwick. I'd say candles because I'm obsessssedddd, but they don't ship in the summer 😩 BUT the Nessa perfume came in clutch this past weekend when I was at Pride. Slips into my purse!

😍 Currently obsessing over... finding high-protein, low-inflammation vegetarian recipes that are both easily meal preppable AND actually taste good. Please send me any reccs you have???

The sales page Dead Reckoning is releasing super, duper soon! I'll probs send a formal "sales" email for that, but I'm not going to send you daily emails.

(or multiple a day like *I'VE* been getting a lot from other marketers lately!)

But it does beg the question -- how many emails per week is too many?

Personally, anything more than 2-3, maaaaybe 4, is too much, and I unsubscribe.

However!! I've been seeing other people say they LOVE micro emails, even if 3+ are sent in ONE day during launches.

What do you think?

Catch ya on the next wave,

This email was written with my own brain. No GenAI was used to brainstorm, write, or edit this.

If you enjoyed it, please let me know!! This is a labor of love for me & it truly means the world when you reply.

Edition #148 July 14th, 2026 Womp, womp, womp. 90% of the 4-part sales page for Dead Reckoning has been finished, but unfortunately, I underestimated how much time it was gonna take me to finish πŸ˜† But I am suuuuuper proud of how it's all coming together so far!! So here's a couple of my favorite lines: For e-comm founders: "The most successful e-commerce founders are often trapped in operational tasks and simply don’t have the time to build the personal brand authority they know they need to...
